On my last cross-country drive. Somewhere in Montana.

H is for...
H is for Home. For Heart. For Help. And for Healing.

I’ve been listening to the Talking Heads "This Must Be the Place" nonstop. David Byrne is singing my story. "Home. Is where I want to be. Pick me up and turn me ‘round."

I am coming home – to Chicago. Later this month, my friend Michael will "pick me up" in Seattle, and we’ll "turn ‘round" and head east across I-90 in my 2000 Honda Civic. I’ve made this trip twice before. And I am delighted I don’t have to make it alone – that I know how to ask for help and how to receive it.

It’s a lesson I learn again and again. I humble myself, ask for help, and I experience emotional intimacy, create community, and discover home. In Chicago. In Seattle. In Kigali, Rwanda – where I spent time this summer. In my own skin.

What is home?
I like definition 9b from Dictionary.com. It reads (as a noun) "an area where a player is safe from attack." I also like number 17 (as an adverb) "deep, to the heart."

Yes, this is my experience.
I hope it will be yours, and that you will find yourself home on my massage table again soon.

I arrive in early September, with a new, lighter-weight table for making house and office calls. For now, bodysherpa is a mobile-only business. For appointments, please call 510.541.8818 or respond to this e-mail.

Until then, may you find the safety and heart of home all around you. I look forward to seeing you soon.
